Leaking Heat Exchanger on Offshore Platform

Problem: Customer had a leaking Custofab Heat Exchanger on the Drill Deck of their Offshore Platform.

Summary: The customer had tube failure in the floating head, tube leaks and tube stress causing the heat exchanger to leak.

INTEGRA recommended that the customer machine all the flanges so they were flat and true, install a new gasket and tension/torque the bolts.  The customer took INTEGRA advice and we selected and installed a new gasket for the dollar plate, channel shell heads, floating heads and tube heads, we ensured the correct bolt material was used, machined the channel heads, fixed tube sheets on the process side and the floating head tube sheets. Torqued and Tensioned the bolts on the dollar plate, channel shell head, floating head and the tube head.

Result: The Heat Exchanger started up LEAK FREE and continues to run LEAK FREE.
