Title:  Inverted Drilling of Steam Valve Studs

Scope: Drill out studs on an inverted turbine steam valve.

Summary: A Power Plant needed to replace all the studs on their inverted turbine steam valves due to life expiry.  An independent turbine outage consultant recommended INTEGRA.  A total of 56 2.3/4” BSF studs needed to be drilled out on the bottom side valves.  In order to keep within the time sensitive outage schedule, INTEGRA used two of their Flange Centered Mounting Systems.  A modification to the design of the Flange Centered Mounting System needed to take place because the drilling would be in an inverted position.  INTEGRA drilled, cut off the studs, tapped out the hole on each valve.

Result: INTEGRA completed all the drilling, cutting off the studs, tapping out the holes and moving the equipment to each valve location (there were a total of 4 valves) in 5 days.
