Problem: Planned shutdown, customer been having problems with leaking Heat Exchangers Summary: The customer called INTEGRA regarding some leaking Heat Exchangers at their lay down yard, they wanted INTEGRA to check the gasket seating, flatness and surface roughness on some large flanges on their product cooler assembly. INTEGRA’s scope of work was to break out the bolts on the heat exchanger, remove the studs, machine the front and back side of tube sheet channel and shell flanges and cover plates using a 90” OD Flange Facing machine, install the heads and studs on the heat exchanger and then re-tension the head. INTEGRA supplied the Flange Facing machine and technician, they used the customer’s own tensioners to breakout and makeup the heat exchanger and then verified the elongation in the studs using their ECHO™ Ultrasonic Verification Unit.
